Learn how innovative applied humanities programs make the pragmatic value of humanities knowledge and skills clearer than ever. Scott Muir of the National Humanities Alliance (NHA) will share NHA's research exploring successful undergraduate programs that integrate the humanities with sciences and professional training. Enrollment data and student survey data collected in partnership with program faculty illustrate how and why these programs have attracted a broader range of students to the humanities and shifted students' perceptions of the value of the liberal arts. Faculty are invited to participate in a workshop following Muir's presentation to brainstorm potential applied humanities programs to be developed at VCU.
