Hilary Levinson, Ph.D.

Biography
Hilary Levinson began teaching in the Department of Focused Inquiry in 2018. Before coming to VCU, she taught literature, composition, and Spanish language at the University of Michigan, where she earned her Ph.D. in comparative literature. In her classrooms, she encourages students to practice “reading” the world around them in order to become confident thinkers who engage with our collective cultures and environments in critical and imaginative ways.
Dr. Levinson is also a translator, working with materials in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Catalan, and French. Outside of VCU, she enjoys cooking and wall climbing.
