Michael is a native son of Southwest Virginia. He graduated from Radford University with a degree in Political Science in 2005 and taught English as a second Language in Tokyo, Japan, before moving to Richmond in 2007. Michael received his M.A. in English from VCU in 2012 and is currently a doctoral candidate in the university’s interdisciplinary Media, Art, and Text program. In addition to his role as administrative coordinator for the Humanities Research Center, Michael teaches courses focused on U.S. Multiethnic Literature for the English Department. In his spare time, Michael enjoys writing music and sampling the wonderful foods and craft beverages in Richmond and its surrounding region.
